The RAD has been sending examiners around the world for decades – beginning in a world without mobile phones, internet or email. Dance Gazette meets some remarkable retired examiners at their annual reunion in London – dedicated people who crossed the world, examining for the RAD at a time when international travel wasn’t taken for granted. They share some unexpected travellers’ tales – about the non-stop 10-month examining tour, about sudden illness and generous hospitality, about intrepid travel and the sheep that burst into the room.
